Airspeed Ambassador G-AGUA was the first prototype for the type, designed to meet Type 2 specifications of the Brabazon Committee. The aircraft is seen during a flight from the Airspeed factory at Christchurch, 19 February 1948. The type entered service with British European Airways in 1952 as the Elizabethan Class.
