Going to Singapore or Malaysia
This pamphlet was created in order to provide introductory information to RAF personnel who had been posted to Malaysia or Singapore. The content of the pamphlet highlights the idiosyncratic nature of both Malaysia and Singapore and the unique features of these postings that personnel had to prepare for.
The pamphlet is dated to October 1969, ten years after Singapore gained autonomy from Britain and nine years after the Malayan Emergency ended. While both Singapore and Malaysia had become sovereign states prior to the creation of this pamphlet, the RAF were still present and had an influence in the Far East, especially with further communist insurgencies taking place in Malaysia and Sarawak at this time.
