Observer Corps, Seaborne, shoulder title

These shoulder badges were provided to the Observer Corps members who volunteered to serve on Royal Navy ships during the D-Day landings.

The function of the Observer Corps on the ships of the D-Day fleet was to provide accurate aircraft identification and thereby to stop AA gunners firing at Allied aircraft.
