Target folder, operation number GO. 1210, Trier, 1939-1944
Target information folder prepared by the Air Ministry Target Section, giving details of the Trier thermal electric power station and adjacent railway workshops.
Trier was bombed on five separate occasions between 1943 and 1944. The first three times were by small numbers of Mosquitoes attacking the power station and railway. The two largest raids occurred in 1944 during the Ardennes Offensive, more commonly known as the Battle of the Bulge. The rail yards were attacked on the 19th and 23rd December to interrupt transport of supplies and reinforcements to the German offensive.
