Target information folder prepared by the Air Ministry Target Section giving details of the Stralsund power station, which provided power to Markisches Elektrizitatswerk A.G.
20 Mosquitos of RAF's Bomber Command conducted a faint attack on Stralsund on the night of 13th/14th April 1945, dropping 14 tons of high explosive and nine tons of markers and incendiary bombs. However, this was not the first time that Stralsund had been attacked, a single Fortress of the 8th United States Army Air Force attacked the town on the 18th July 1944, while the main force of 377 Boeing Fortresses attacked the German missile development facility at Peenemunde. The 8th Air Force attacked the Stralsund with a much larger force on the 6th October 1944, when 146 Boeing Fortresses attacked the town, causing much damage.
