Target information folder prepared by the Air Ministry Target Section giving details of the railway marshalling yards, coking works and steel plant at Dortmund.
Dortmund was a major centre for coal and steel production, vital for the German war effort, it was also an important transport hub, being located at the end of the Dortmund-Ems canal. As a result, the city was bombed on many occasions, with a significant portion of it being destroyed in the attacks.
