Target information folder prepared by the Air Ministry Target Section giving details of the iron and steel works at Volklingen .

Iron and steel production at Volklingen date back to the late 19th century. During the Second World War over 12,000 foreign labourers were forced to work at the site in inhuman conditions. The works were not bombed during the war and closed in 1986. In 1994 the site was declared a UNESCO world heritage Site.
