Target information folder prepared by the Air Ministry Target Section giving details of the steel works at Bochum.
Bochum, with its substantial coal and steel industry, was a key target and was bombed multiple times during the war. The last major raid by Bomber Command took place on the night of 4 November 1944, when a force of 749 aircraft attacked the city which had been target marked by aircraft of the Pathfinder Force. The steelworks were seriously damaged, over 4000 buildings destroyed and nearly 1000 people killed.
