It is fundamentally important to know an aircraft's speed through the air. This can be achieved by the use of a Pressure Head.
The difference between the static pressure of the upper vent and the dynamic pressure of the airflow entering the lower tube is transmitted and displayed on the scale of an Air Speed Indicator.
