Target information folder prepared by the Air Ministry Target Section giving details of the Gneisenau coking plant in Dortmund, Germany.
Dortmund was major, coal and steel producing city as well as being an important transport hub. As a result it was bombed repeatedly both RAF's Bomber Command and the USAAF 8th Air Force. 1,108 aircraft were despatched by Bomber Command to attack the city on 12 March 1945, this number of aircraft and the 4851 tons of bombs that were dropped on the city were record numbers by Bomber Command not to be exceeded before the end of the war.
