Notes for the information of candidates for commissions in the Royal Auxiliary Air Force
Air Ministry Pamphlet providing information for prospective candidates looking to earn commissions in the Royal Auxiliary Air Force. Air Ministry Pamphlet 1, 12th Edition, April 1950.
Air Ministry Pamphlets were issued from 1925 through to the 1970s. They were used as a means of disseminating information, instructions and regulations related to aspects of the RAF’s operations, training and personnel. Their contents were wide and varied. The Auxiliary Air Force was formed in October 1924. Following the significant contributions of the Auxiliary Air Force during Second World War, King George VI bestowed the prefix of "Royal" on the force in 1947, creating the "Royal Auxiliary Air Force". The Royal Auxiliary Air Force still exists today with paid volunteers training in their spare time in order to provide support for the regular RAF.
