Air Ministry Pamphlets were issued from 1925 through to the 1970s. They were used as a means of disseminating information, instructions and regulations related to aspects of the RAF’s operations, training and personnel. Their contents were wide and varied. The rates of pay for officers that were revised, as illustrated in Air Ministry Pamphlet 5, was authorised by the Secretary of State for India. In August 1925 when this pamphlet was published, the position was held by F. E. Smith, the 1st Earl of Birkenhead.
