Quetta town and RAF station following the Quetta earthquake, June 1935
On 31 May 1935, an earthquake destroyed large parts of the city of Quetta and the RAF station.
The earthquake struck in the early morning and, destroyed many towns around Quetta as well as the city itself. The loss of life was the largest recorded for an earthquake in South-East Asia in the 20th Century. The disaster response was one of the first uses of aircraft in such a civil emergency.
