Bristol Gas Starter
Bristol Gas Starter Trollies supplied compressed air to start aircraft engines such as the Bristol Jupiter (in the Bristol Bulldog) and the Bristol Pegasus (in the Westland Wallace).
Also known as the Bristol Compressor Trolley by the RAF, this engine starter unit comprised a two-stroke engine and an air compressor. The engine powered the compressor, the compressed air from which then started the Bristol aero engine. The introduction of accumulator trolleys and electric starters in the 1930s rendered the Gas Starter Trolley obsolete.
