Bandar Abbas was a port on the southern coast of Persia now Iran. The port still occupies a strategic position on the narrow Strait of Hormuz which provides the only sea passage from the Persian Gulf to the Arabian Sea in the Indian Ocean. The map is marked with the airfields in the Trucial States, which are now the United Arab Emirates
