Other Ranks, Field Service Cap, 1936 Pattern
In 1936 the Royal Air Force adopted a new, other ranks, service dress uniform. Originally, either a service dress or a field service cap was to be worn as part of this uniform.
In the interests of economy, the wearing of the leather peaked, service cap was restricted to the Police, MT Drivers and Apprentices in 1939. All other trades adopted the field service cap as the standard uniform headgear.
