Rolls-Royce Merlin 23
Rolls Royce Merlins were one of the truly outstanding engines of the Second World War. They powered fighters like Spitfires and Hurricanes and bombers such as Lancasters and Halifaxes.
While the Merlin had all of these different applications, there were some significant differences between variants. Merlin 23s fitted to Mosquitos were unusual in having a reversed cooling system due to the location of the aircraft’s radiators
