Portrait photograph of Claude Grahame-White, the man who developed the Hendon aerodrome before the First World War.
Claude was a pioneer of motoring, motor racing and aviation. He acquired the London Aerodrome in 1911 and began to develop it, constructing an aircraft factory, and building additional hangars to encourage more users. He also arranged regular air displays which made the site famous, commonly known as Hendon.
