Marshal of the Royal Air Force Sir Dermot Alexander Boyle in about 1956.
Sir Dermot joined the Royal Air Force in 1922 and graduated from the RAF College, Cranwell, in 1924. After a long and varied career, he was promoted to Chief of the Air Staff in 1956, the first Cranwell Cadet to be appointed to the most senior post in the Royal Air Force. He was also the first Chairman of Trustees of the Royal Air Force Museum.
