Napier Lion VII
The Napier Lion VII was a racing version of the popular Lion engine, used widely in the 1920s. The VII powered racing aircraft as well as record breaking land and sea vehicles.
Various modified versions of the Napier Lion VII powered aircraft in the 1925 and 1927 Schneider Trophy air races, including the Supermarine S5 used to win the 1927 race. Similar engines were used in to power the world land speed record attempt vehicles Bluebird and Golden Arrow.
