Stettin was located over 600 miles from Bomber Command bases. A force of 339 made the most successful attack beyond the range of Oboe during the Battle of the Ruhr. Visibility was good and the Pathfinder marking was carried out perfectly. A day and a half later a photographic reconnaissance aircraft flew over Stettin and more than 20 fires were still burning.
