Service Dress Cap of a Field Officer
London, Hangar One Aircraft & Exhibits
When the RAF formed in 1918 the field uniform closely followed those used by the Royal Flying Corps and Royal Naval Air Service.
The leather peak and black mohair band closely resemble the style previously worn by the Royal Naval Air Service. The gold oak leaves denote the rank of Colonel.
