Hawker Hart (India) (K2104) of No 39 Squadron, port front view in flight, 1932
A Hawker Hart (India) belonging to No 39 Squadron flies over the mountainous terrain of the North-West Frontier province of India during the early 1930s.
The Hart (India) was a variant of the versatile Hawker Hart light bomber adapted to operate in the harsh conditions found in India. The most notable difference was the addition of a second fuel tank to the upper centre section of the wing. K2104 reached India in December 1931 and the lack of squadron markings may suggest that it had only recently arrived with No 39 Squadron when the photograph was taken. Empty equipment panniers can be seen fitted to the lower main planes.
