Aircraft Recognition Chart: Buffalo I (Cyclone) Belgian Brewster (Cyclone)
Ministry of Aircraft Production aircraft recognition chart of a Brewster Buffalo Mark I (Cyclone), Belgian Brewster (Cyclone). Issue I, August 1941.
Aircraft recognition charts were an essential training tool in learning to recognise aircraft. They depicted silhouettes of both allied and enemy aircraft and were used to help military personnel quickly identify whether an aeroplane was friendly or hostile. The Brewster Buffalo was a single-seat fighter aircraft. The Belgian government ordered the variant depicted on this aircraft recognition chart, but the German invasion halted deliveries before they could be used, consequently, some of the aircraft that were due to be part of this delivery were merged with the British contract for delivery to the RAF. The Buffalo was fitted with a Wright R-1820 Cyclone 9 engine.
