Aircraft Recognition Chart: Beaufighter I C, I F, VI C & VI F
Ministry of Aircraft Production aircraft recognition chart of a Bristol Beaufighter Marks IC, IF, VIC and VIF. Issue I, October 1941.
Aircraft recognition charts were an essential training tool in learning to recognise aircraft. They depicted silhouettes of both allied and enemy aircraft and were used to help military personnel quickly identify whether an aeroplane was friendly or hostile. The Bristol Beaufighter was a two-seat multi-role aircraft. The Marks IC, IF, VIC and VIF were all similar but there were some differences. The Beaufighter Mark IC was the Coastal Command variant, while the Mark IF was a night fighter variant equipped with AI Mark IV radar. The total production of these two variants reached 910. The Mark VIC was a Coastal Command version similar to the Mark IC, while the VIF was fitted with AI Mark VIII radar. These Marks were fitted with two Hercules XI engines.
