Ministry of Aircraft Production aircraft recognition chart of a North American Mitchell Marks I and II. Issue I, September 1942. (Reprinted April 1944).
Aircraft recognition charts were an essential training tool in learning to recognise aircraft. They depicted silhouettes of both allied and enemy aircraft and were used to help military personnel quickly identify whether an aeroplane was friendly or hostile. The North American Mitchell is a bomber aircraft. The Mitchell Marks I and II were fitted with Wright R-2600 Cyclone 14 engines. Many North American Mitchell aircraft are being kept airworthy today.
