Aircraft Recognition Chart: Spitfire XIV
Ministry of Supply aircraft recognition chart of a Supermarine Spitfire Mark XIV. Issue 2, April 1947.
Aircraft recognition charts were an essential training tool in learning to recognise aircraft. They depicted silhouettes of both allied and enemy aircraft and were used to help military personnel quickly identify whether an aeroplane was friendly or hostile. The Supermarine Spitfire was a single-seat fighter aircraft. The Spitfire Mark XIV was very effective at high-altitudes and was fitted with a Rolls-Royce Griffon engine.
