Aircraft recognition charts were an essential training tool in learning to recognise aircraft. They depicted silhouettes of both allied and enemy aircraft and were used to help military personnel quickly identify whether an aeroplane was friendly or hostile. The Avro Anson was a twin-engine, multi-role aircraft. The Avro Anson Mark I was fitted with two Armstrong Siddeley Cheetah engines, Marks II and III were fitted with two Jacobs L-6MB R-915 engines and the Mark IV was fitted with two Wright R-975 Whirlwind engines.
