Aircraft recognition charts were an essential training tool in learning to recognise aircraft. They depicted silhouettes of both allied and enemy aircraft and were used to help military personnel quickly identify whether an aeroplane was friendly or hostile. The Lockheed Hudson was a light bomber reconnaissance aircraft. The Hudson Marks I, II and III were fitted with two Wright R-1820 Cyclone engines and marks IV and V were fitted with two Pratt & Whitney R-1830 Twin Wasp engines.
