Aircraft Recognition Chart: PB4Y-2 (Twin Wasp)
Ministry of Aircraft Production aircraft recognition chart of a Consolidated PB4Y-2 Privateer. Issue I, September 1944.
Aircraft recognition charts were an essential training tool in learning to recognise aircraft. They depicted silhouettes of both allied and enemy aircraft and were used to help military personnel quickly identify whether an aeroplane was friendly or hostile. The Consolidated PB4Y-2 Privateer was a patrol bomber aircraft operated by the United States Navy and United States Coast Guard during the Second World War and Korean War. The PB4Y-2 was fitted with four Pratt & Whitney R-1830 Twin Wasp engines. 739 of the PB4Y-2 were built in total.
