Aircraft Recognition Chart: Twin Mustang P-82B
Ministry of Supply aircraft recognition chart of a North American P-82B Twin Mustang. Issue I, April 1947.
Aircraft recognition charts were an essential training tool in learning to recognise aircraft. They depicted silhouettes of both allied and enemy aircraft and were used to help military personnel quickly identify whether an aeroplane was friendly or hostile. The North American F-82/P-82 Twin Mustang was a long-range escort fighter primarily operated by the United States Air Force. The aircraft saw service during the Korean War, with the Second World War ending before its production could make it available. The P-82B variant of the Twin Mustang was fitted with two Packard V-1650 Merlin engines.
