Aircraft Recognition Chart: Sunderland I & II (4-Pegasus)

Aircraft recognition charts were an essential training tool in learning to recognise aircraft. They depicted silhouettes of both allied and enemy aircraft and were used to help military personnel quickly identify whether an aeroplane was friendly or hostile. The Short S.25 Sunderland was a flying boat patrol bomber aircraft primarily operated by the Royal Air Force, with it being used for operations by the RAF until 1959. The Sunderland was used during the Second World War, Korean War as well as the Berlin Airlift. The Short Sunderland Marks I and II were fitted with four Bristol Pegasus engines, with 75 of the Mark I being built and 43 of the Mark II being built.
