uK4u Charity Christmas gift box 2008
The uK4u Christmas box is an example of one of over 24,000 boxes distributed to UK service personnel on operations overseas on 25th December 2007 this was the third year which uK4u had distributed its Christmas box.
Inspired by Princess Mary’s Christmas Gift Fund of 1914 in 2004 the Ministry of Defence Catering Group produced and distributed a Christmas box, such was its success that the charity uK4u was established (now known as Operation Christmas Box) to raise funds from voluntary donation to continue the good work. To avoid pressure on the supply chain boxes were distributed from the end of September using any spare capacity in the Ministry of Defence Joint Supply Chain. Great care is taken to provide a box that is gender neutral, secular and non-offensive.
