RAF Hendon Station Commanders
The Station Headquarters building at most RAF Stations features a board such as this, recording all Station Commanding Officers. They are responsible for the station but not the units based there.
Although the Air Ministry acquired Hendon aerodrome in 1925, it did not become a station until 1927, by when it was occupied by Nos. 600 and 601 Squadrons, Auxiliary Air Force. From 1927 to 1935 the Station Commander was also Superintendent of Reserves. From 1958 the Station Commander was also commander of the Joint Services Air Trooping Centre until the station closed in 1987.
