Recording of an interview with Captain Percival Niger Michael (Puggy) Shone, 1 March 1976
Interview with Captain Percival (Puggy) Shone, who fought on the Somme in 1916 before transferring to the Royal Flying Corps. He then served as an observer in 48 Squadron.
Capt Shone served with the South Staffordshire Regiment on the Somme in 1916. In 1917 he transferred to the Royal Flying Corps and was an observer with 48 Squadron, flying Bristol Fighters in France. He describes the Bristol Fighter and operations over the Western Front and recalls a forced landing which ended his operational career. He went on to work in training and test flying roles.
