Interview with William Patrick Elms, who served in the Royal Navy, the Royal Flying Corps, the Royal Naval Air Service and the Royal Air Force between 1908 and 1929.
William Elms explains how he came to join the Royal Navy as a shipwright and volunteered for service in the Naval Wing of the Royal Flying Corps. He served in France during the First World War and recalls the formation of the RAF. He was posted to RAF Halton as a boat-building instructor and served in Malta during the 1920s.
