Lecture in which Group Captain Leonard Somerville Snaith gives an account of the Schneider Trophy races from 1913 to 1931, including details of his personal involvement in the 1931 race.
Gp Capt Snaith gives an account of the origins and history of the Schneider Trophy races, and of the RAF’s High Speed Flight. He gives detail on the 1927, 1929 and 1931 races and his own experience of flying the Gloster IV and Supermarine S6B. The support necessary for the races, and the legacy of the Schneider Trophy, are also covered.
