Ki-Gass Engine Priming Pump
London, Hangar One Aircraft & Exhibits
Prior to starting, piston engines require fuel to be fed to the cylinders. This can be done by hand-turning the propeller or by the use of a priming pump.
The pump bypasses the carburettor and sprays fuel directly into the induction pipe. They were a common feature in cockpits from the 1930s onwards.
