Interview with Corporal Lilley
Recording in which Corporal Lilley, a rear gunner, describes an attack by a number of German aeroplanes during which one German aircraft was shot down and the rest driven off.
Corporal Lilley recalls being cold in his tail turret when two unidentified aircraft were reported to be approaching. He explains how they fired at long range, how further German aircraft appeared and made stern attacks and how he waited until they were close enough before firing. He recalls seeing their markings, and remembers how one aircraft caught fire and crashed into the sea before the attack was abandoned.
