On 13 February 1945, Prime Minister Winston Churchill arrived in Egypt following the Yalta Conference. These pages from station newsletter, ‘The Abuklarion’, document his arrival and reception at RAF Aboukir.

The Yalta Conference took place in Crimea, Soviet Union, from February 9 to 11, 1945. Winston Churchill met with US President Franklin D. Roosevelt and Soviet Union leader Joseph Stalin to discuss Allied strategy and the postwar settlement in Europe. More than 700 military advisors and diplomats attended.
