de Havilland Mosquito B.35
This Mosquito is a late bomber variant. It was built at the end of the Second World War, and served with No 98 Squadron in Germany in 1950-51 before being replaced by Vampire fighter-bombers.
The Mosquito was conceived as a fast bomber, a role in which it excelled. It was also successfully used as a fighter, maritime strike and photo reconnaissance aircraft. When it entered service in 1941, it was one of the fastest operational aircraft. Unlike most bombers, which carried a defensive armament in gun turrets, the mosquito relied on its speed alone to escape interception. With Bomber Command, Mosquitos found a niche within the Path Finder Force for target marking and diversionary raids.
