Ken Painter explains how he flew Beaufighters with 47 Squadron in the Mediterranean in 1942. He tells the story of how he shot down a Junkers 52 aircraft and torpedoed a ship and, after threats of court martial, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. He later ditched at sea and was taken prisoner. He describes life as a prisoner-of-war, comments on escape attempts and gives his views on the Beaufighter.
