Polish Cat Artwork
From its earliest days, RAF personnel used artwork on aircraft to boost morale. During the Second World War nose art became increasingly flamboyant.
This panel was removed from Vickers Wellington IV, Z1259 of No. 301 Squadron, based at RAF Hemswell after the aircraft crash-landed in the UK having sustained damage during an operation on 16 January 1942. All five of the Polish crew survived.
