Rubber was a scarce commodity in war-time Britain. Boots such as these would only be issued when weather conditions justified there use.

WAAFs undertook a variety of active and technical roles and this item is displayed on a mannequin depicting a tradeswoman wearing No 2 Working Dress circa 1942.
