Albatros DVa
Serving in the First World War, the German DVa lacked the performance of Allied fighters but was built in large numbers focusing on quantity rather than quality.
"Many were lost in combat both from Allied aircraft and structural failure of the lower wing. In 1918 prolonged diving in DV aircraft was banned. Painted as a DV aircraft, this flying replica was built by The Vintage Aviator Ltd (TVAL) in New Zealand in 2011. It uses an original Mercedes DIII engine from the RAF Museum's collection, and represents an aircraft flown on the Western Front by Jasta 61 in 1918."
