Recorded interview with Ken Thomas, who served as an aircraft fitter on various aircraft in the United Kingdom, the Middle East, North Africa and Italy during the Second World War.
Ken Thomas remembers training as an airframe fitter and work on Wellington, Lysander and Blenheim aircraft. He describes his sea journey to Port Said and No.1 Aircraft Repair Depot at Burg-el-Arab. He describes life and work in North Africa in 1942, working on Mitchell, Boston, Baltimore, Spitfire, Kittyhawk and Dakota aircraft. He discusses aspects of desert operations, the move to Italy, logistics and the comparison between North Africa and Italy.
