Recorded interview with Joyce Cesarani, who served as a Women’s Auxiliary Air Force driver and Educational and Vocational Training instructor at RAF Portreath during and after the Second World War.
Joyce Cesarani remembers early life in London, evacuation and joining the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force. After training at RAF Bridgnorth and qualifying as a driver she was posted to RAF Zeals and then Portreath. She remembers driving a crash ambulance, crashes at Portreath, a flight to Gibraltar in Dakota and how she drove Sarah Churchill to the Air Ministry. She was later an Educational and Vocational Training instructor at Portreath.
