Chief Technician Leslie Barnes was a flight engineer on among other aircraft Douglas Dakota KN645 in the late 1960s when it was the personal transport of the Commander-in-Chief Allied Forces Northern Europe. KN645 was the last Dakota in RAF service and is now on display at RAF Museum Midlands.
