Recorded interview with Flight Lieutenant Thomas Llewellyn Jones, 1 June 2013
Recorded interview with Thomas Jones, who flew as bomb-aimer in Lancasters of 90 Squadron at RAF Tuddenham towards the end of the Second World War. He then served in India.
Thomas Jones remembers early life in Wales, teacher training and service in the Local Defence Volunteers. He trained in the UK and Canada as a bomb-aimer, was commissioned and crewed up for operational training in Wellingtons, Stirlings and Lancasters. He describes his crew, the bomb-aimer’s role and 90 Squadron operations from RAF Tuddenham in late 1944 and early 1945. He also gives an account of his subsequent posting to India.
