Recorded interview with Master Air Load Master Rodney Douglas Little, 17 June 2013
Rod Little served as an air quartermaster and air loadmaster in Hastings, Argosy, Belfast, VC 10 and Hercules transport aircraft. His experience includes evacuation from Cyprus and the Falklands War.
Rod Little trained as an RAF armourer and worked on various aircraft, including Valiant, Victor, Canberra, Javelin and Meteor in the UK and Germany. He then became an air quartermaster and then air loadmaster on Hastings, Argosy, Belfast, VC10 and Hercules transport aircraft. He recalls the evacuation of civilians from Cyprus, low-level supply drops, flying supplies to Ascension Island during the Falklands War and the loadmaster’s role in air-to-air refuelling.
